Sloppy Slippers Exchange – Blackburn With Darwen

They organised four events where older people were invited to bring in their old slippers and swap them for a new pair free of charge.

The team also provided:

  • A specially designed footcare and footwear leaflet, which they’d developed with the involvement of the community physiotherapy, occupational therapy and Leisure Services staff
  • A Help the Aged ‘Fitter Feet’ booklet
  • Various information stalls (including chiropody, ophthalmology, nutrition and exercise).

The aim was also to develop a falls register for future monitoring.

Up to 200 people attended the events and 145 entries were made onto the falls register.
