Sight Checks – Gateshead
The team wanted to ensure older people were aware of the need for sight checks, that they were free of charge and that home visits could be arranged.
The team involved a local primary school in designing a leaflet and distributed it in the area via housing wardens and lunch club organisers.
Local community opticians held eye checks in residential settings and assisted residents in completing benefit forms.
