Quality Improvement Skills – Highlands Group Practice
Following attendance at the Quality Improvement Skills Programme, the practice decided to improve the uptake of flu vaccines among asthma patients, particularly the young and those with coronary heart disease.
They used several quality improvement tools to help define the problem and to test changes.
The result was considerable improvements in their Quality and Outcomes Framework points and increased job satisfaction for practice staff, in addition to better care for patients.
For the first time, they also introduced practice team meetings which are a great success. The programme taught them take time to analyse the problems before trying to solve them.
