Delapre Primary School - Northampton

Delapre Primary School won the Healthy Schools Gold Award in 2001 for its work on personal, social and health education.  In 2002, the school changed from a middle school to a primary school leaving a whole building redundant.  Rather than demolish it, the building was turned into a community centre and the input from the HCC team has helped to ensure it continues to thrive

A variety of schemes have been put in place including:

  • Cookery courses for parents
  • Blending course designed for baby weaning
  • Over-55s Lunch Club
  • Healthy Eating Happening classes - food tasting, fun, information and advice for children, parents, and grandparents
  • Veggie Bag Scheme
  • Healthy snacks training
  • Summer holiday food courses
  • Allotments.
