Coventry Schools

Seventeen schools gathered their cohorts of boys at Warwick University and held a ‘Boys' Conference' - an opportunity for the boys to listen to two keynote speakers Gary Wilson, and the poet Dreadlock Alien.

They then chose to attend three workshop sessions from the following choices:

  • University of the First Age - problem solving and working together to achieve
Philosophy for Children - developing thinking skills
  • Team Building through Music - working together to produce and sing a song - using leadership and team building skills
  • Reading Why? - making fiction more enticing and developing skills for choosing books
  • Teambuilding - solving problems together and highlighting the strength of working together as a team
  • Drama - building confidence through music and drama
Vital Connections - Introduction to yoga, massage and breathing to help release stress.

In the afternoon, they had time to talk and listen more to the thoughts of Dreadlock Alien. The day ended with them meeting in their school teams and having time to reflect on the value of the day and their next steps. They went home having learnt new skills and were more able and motivated to reach their potential.
